You Might Be Washing Your Bed Sheets the Wrong Way

Even premium-quality sheets can lose their softness and color if they’re not washed properly. If your bedding feels rough, faded, or less cozy than before, it might not be the fabric’s fault — it’s your washing routine.

At Fasiano, we believe true comfort begins with care. Every material, from our Microfiber Bed Sheet Set to the Cotton Fitted Sheet, is designed to stay smooth, breathable, and soft — but they also deserve the right treatment to stay that way.

1. Common Mistakes When Washing Sheets

1. Using hot water for every wash

Hot water can weaken fibers and cause shrinkage, especially for cotton blends and microfiber fabrics. Unless you’re sanitizing due to illness, cold or warm water works best.

2. Adding too much detergent or softener

Excess detergent leaves residue that makes sheets stiff and less breathable. A small amount of mild detergent is enough for a full load.

3. Washing on heavy-duty or high-spin cycles

Strong cycles tug on fibers and cause fabric wear, leading to pilling and wrinkles.

4. Drying under direct sunlight

Sunlight fades colors and breaks down fibers over time. It’s better to air-dry in the shade or tumble dry on low heat.

2. The Right Way to Wash and Care for Your Sheets

1. Choose the right water temperature

  • Cotton sheets: cold or warm water (below 40°C / 104°F)
  • Microfiber sheets: cold water only to preserve softness and color.

For example, Fasiano’s Microfiber Bed Sheet Set is made with ultra-fine, breathable fibers that stay silky smooth even after many washes. Cold water helps maintain its original softness and vibrant color.

2. Use mild detergent and skip bleach

Harsh detergents and bleach can weaken fibers and dull colors. Use gentle, low-foam detergent instead.

3. Wash on gentle cycle and low spin speed

This reduces stretching and helps keep sheets smooth and long-lasting.

4. Air dry or tumble dry on low

Air drying is best for all fabrics. If using a dryer, choose a low-heat setting and add dryer balls to prevent tangling.

5. Wash regularly and deep clean occasionally

Wash your sheets every 7–10 days. Once per season, soak them in warm water with a bit of white vinegar to remove buildup and refresh the fibers.

3. Extra Tips for Long-Lasting Sheets

  • Wash new sheets before first use to remove factory residues.
  • Avoid mixing sheets with towels or socks to prevent lint and pilling.
  • Occasionally air out your Fasiano Pillowcases an

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
